What is Småbiter?

Småbiter is an app for parents introducing solid foods. You can log what your child tries, see how their range of foods grows over time, and keep track of which allergens you’ve introduced. It is a logging and reference tool that remembers for you, so you don’t have to keep it all in your head.

What age is the app for?

Småbiter is designed for the period when a child starts eating solid foods, roughly 6 to 24 months, and is intended for healthy infants and toddlers. If your child has a known allergy, illness or particular needs, questions about their diet should be discussed with your child health clinic (helsestasjon) or doctor – not an app.

Can I use the app for more than one child?

No. Småbiter is designed for one child per app, so you cannot keep logs for siblings or twins side by side. This is a deliberate choice to keep the app simple. The app does not currently support multiple children.

Does the app advise me on what my child should eat?

No. Småbiter shows public guidance with its source and lets you log what your child has tried. The app does not assess your child, evaluate their nutritional needs, or provide recommendations tailored to them.

Småbiter is a logging and reference tool, not a medical device, and provides no health advice. Discuss questions about your child’s health, growth or diet with your child health clinic, GP or another qualified healthcare professional.

Will you answer questions about allergens, when to start, or textures?

Not on this site. Questions like these depend on the child, and the answer should come from a healthcare professional who knows your child – not from a website. The app shows what public Norwegian sources say on the topic and links to the original documents, so you can read them and discuss any questions with your child health clinic.

Which devices does the app support?

Småbiter is designed for iPhone and requires iOS 26.2 or later. It can be installed on iPad, but the interface is designed for iPhone. There is no Android or web version – the app is the whole product.

Do I need to create an account?

Not with us. You sign in with Apple, and the sign-in identity stays on your device. We have no server and therefore no user database.

Where is my data stored?

By default, your data is stored locally on your device. If you enable optional iCloud sync, it is also stored in your iCloud account. No tracking, no ads, no usage analytics – we do not receive any of the data you log. The details are in the privacy notice.

Can both parents use the app?

Only if you share an Apple account. If you turn on iCloud sync, your log is shared between devices signed in to that account. Sharing between parents who use different Apple accounts is not available yet. Sync is optional and off by default.

How do I delete everything?

Inside the app: profile settings → "Danger zone" → "Delete all data permanently". That deletes everything you have logged, permanently – from the device and from the iCloud copy, if you had sync turned on. If you would like a copy of your data first, ask for it before you delete, because afterwards it no longer exists anywhere.

Can I get a copy of my data?

Yes. Because we don’t hold a copy of your data, you’ll need to contact us at hello@skpgroup.no for now. We’ll help you export it from your own device as a JSON file. We retrieve nothing ourselves – the file is created on your device. It contains health information about your child, so share it with care.

Is the app available in English?

Yes, the app is available in Norwegian and English. Some original sources are available only in Norwegian. In those cases, we show the Norwegian text with a clear notice rather than translating official health guidance ourselves.

Where does the content come from?

All content is written by us, in our own words, based on public guidance from named sources such as Helsenorge, Helsedirektoratet and Mattilsynet (the Norwegian health and food safety authorities). Every claim references its source. We have written about this in more detail on the page About the content.

Can I add foods that are not in the app?

Yes. If you cannot find what you served in the food catalogue, you can add it yourself. It will then appear in your log and in the catalogue alongside the other foods. Foods you add are your own notes – they have no source reference, and we do not provide safety guidance for them.

Does the app send notifications?

Only if you choose to receive them. The app can remind you to record how it went after you introduce an allergen, and it can send a meal reminder if you set one up. Notifications are created and scheduled on your device – they do not come from a server, and their contents are never sent to us.

Is Småbiter approved by the health authorities?

No. Småbiter is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Helsedirektoratet, Helsenorge or Mattilsynet. We reference public sources, but we are an independent app.
